Up here in South Dakota, we don't get to choose if we want to keep ants, we have to! There are so few nuptial flights, that all queens are good queens :D!

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8

Well, I wouldn’t say that exactly....... it’s just super easy to find the plain species and so hard to find the more interesting ones.

"God made..... all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds (including ants). And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:25 NIV version

Keeping:

Tetramorium immigrans

Formica cf. pallidefulva, cf. incerta, cf. argentea

Formica cf. aserva, cf. subintegra

Pogonomyrmex occidentalis

Pheidole bicarinata

Myrmica sp.

Lasius neoniger, brevicornis

What do you mean by that. is she dying?

My point is, rejecting a queen is irrelevant to diversity and rarity. It just depends on what the keeper wants.

Aphrodite is alive and more 'alive', so she's just not a morning person...I also went looking for the amber queen and only found two Lasius Aphicola queens. I think she got munched on...

Hey a mini update but queen Selene hasn't laid in quite a while so I was wondering if I should move her into a test tube again. Any advice?

Definitely not. It will only stress her more and will make no difference. She’s either not warm enough, too disturbed, or possibly just a dud. Keep patient.

I don't see why not. My room is a little lower than that, and my formica have laid eggs.

If mold hasn’t taken over the tube, don’t move her. I would recommend lengthening the time between checkups.
