Come on now, do we really have to have this flame/fight in a thread everytime, this time it looks more like someone instigated than just simply Hightlyze spewing stuff. No one here ever heard of Don't feed the Trolls? I guess Don't instigate could also be another thing as well.

I don't normally do much in the way of getting into people's faces with stuff, but come on every thread doesn't need to have this......

Expectation: Sticking your finger into an outworld will end up with majors ripping off your fingers.
Reality: Ants will climb on your hand and calmly explore the strange new terrain.

Expectation: Forelius pruinosus are as large as Nylanderia vividula.

Reality: They are aboutthe size of Solenopsis molesta.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Expectation: Lasius and Formica have "unmissable" flights. (In the words of Mikey)

Reality: I missed every single Formica flight and only caught one neoniger queen this year.

(I say caught, but she was in a pool)

Same with me, couldn't find any Formica, and only one neoniger.

But you're practically a Crematogaster magnet, which Antscanada has described as rare.

They're nowhere near rare. Just have a small time frame for flights.

Almost all fully claustral Ants have small time frames from my experience. Just depends when you're normally anting

That's funny. I found 30+ assorted formica this year, half of which were parasitic

Facts. They literally landed on my shirt and pants. Benefits of being a CrematoMaster, I suppose. I’m trading two for a Formica, though!

Expectation: Ants are supposed to slow down around hibernation time

Reality: They eat mealworms during the day when they are nocturnal and 1/4 of the colony decides it would be a good idea to circle their enclosure a couple times
