I have been mostly giving my Pogonomyrmex californicus colonies various  species of grass seeds for the last few months since I ran out of poppy seeds, well I recently purchased another supply of poopy seeds (Papaver somniferum) and gave two fo my larger colonies a few little piles these seed and they went absolutely nutso pututso over them. I shot a short video of them franticly gathering them. If you find the music off-putting just mute it. These two colonies are housed in our illustrious leaders dirt boxes, but the colonies were started from queens I caught locally to me.

I love it! Did you ever try giving them quinoa seeds? My Tetramorium love hemp seeds, too.

yes I have, they seem to like them as well. However they never go as crazy as they do when I have not given them poppy in aawhile. I may have addicted them to opium by accident...lol.

Well, honeybees get addicted to caffeine in coffee blooms, so it’s not impossible.
