This isn't meme related, but AntWiki says that A. lamellidens has odor defenses and is unpleasant to aspirate. Is that true in your experience?

Yes. It's not as bad as Tapinoma sessile, but it's still pretty bad.

It can be annoying for sure, but it's not too bad. Crematogaster are worse though...

You are very right. The only species I've seen from the group, F. obscuriventris, I saw before I had my aspirator. The worst ants I've ever aspirated was a colony of Camponotus decipiens.

well I'm still betting rufa group formica are worse than Camponotus. A large obscuriventris colony can make the whole area around the nest smell like formic acid, like hard to breathe cause of so much acid. You are very right. The only species I've seen from the group, F. obscuriventris, I saw before I had my aspirator. I'd advise not aspirating Formica and Camponotus. Formic acid can cause problems in your lungs and airway. Permanent problems.

Ya, I was an idiot and did it multiple times with both Formica and Crematogaster. My throat started hurting after a while but I didn't know any better. It is totally not healthy.
