I have determined that the best heater I have for my ants is a Lenovo Chromebook charger used for my school Chromebook. It gets really hot, especially at this big chunky box it has about halfway down its length. The only problem? I need my Chromebook every day! Does anyone know how I can trick the charger into charging something other than my laptop? I know nothing about electronics, so I don't know if I would need a Chromebook battery to plug it into, something to complete the circuit, or what.

Actually, I think the original heating pad I got would work fine. It's about the same temperature as the charger. The instruction manual is stuck to the sticky side, though, so I don't know if it is safe to use. The manual was made of glossy paper, which probably isn't as bad as old newspaper, for example.

If you are using a heat mat I would definitely 100% get a thermostat. I know tons of other people say its completely unneeded but my carpet caught on fire because i didn't have a high quality thermostat. I have reptiles and they need specific heating anyways so it works out lol

Since then I ordered a heating cable, which generally seems safer and more usable. What size heating pad were you using? Don't the small pads and cables only warm things 10 degrees?
