I don't think this is a production quality issue, I think this is strictly materials used issue. Not all materials are good for all ants. I'm curious to see if they've run into this problem with other people and I wonder if they were all pretty destructive species of ants. It becomes problematic and I wonder if a disclaimer should be involved with the purchase of these formicariums.

I tend to agree. These plugs do come in the Camponotus kits I purchased. Thing is there are many accessories, including the Out World that appear to be made of the same material.

Really though it's all speculation until I hear for AC. :)

That cut in the plastic is really precise.

Ok, Sorry haven't updated but I went away for the long weekend and was busy. :)

So, on Thursday I received an email form AC

Hey Billy,

Thank you for sharing this with is. This is really bizarre! Those are some pretty tough jaws on those ants of yours. We have never seen this before. I will ship out a few more plugs for you. I’m going to suggest that you fill them with 100% Silicone to help prevent future escapes. Here is the shipping address I have for you:

Is this correct?

Thanks,

Brian

I did not check email until I was on my way Friday so I did not reply yet. Today I received 3 new plugs form AC. Not real sure that's a solution but not sure what to say or do either.

Get a small vial of vegetable oil and add some thyme and rosemary in it. Let it sit for about 1 month. Then apply to areas where your ants are chewing. They'll stop chewing  :)

Clever. Does rosemary act as an ant deterrent?

I’m really disappointed in the AC outworld I put my Crematogasters in. It’s really not that spacious, and the plastic is semi-opaque with lots of little scuff marks on it. For $80 fricking bucks, I would expect a lot better.

I find the AC stuff awesome in concept, but the quality can freakin stink. The hybrid 2.0 I have is fantastic compared to the old. A real jump in quality minus the issue Acutus is having.

I'd stuff those holes with good ol' cotton!

I'm keeping an eye on my plugs.

I've had a degree of success with it :)
