What species of ants can unite with other colonies of the same type? Lasius niger can do this? I have a lasius niger queen and a lasius niger worker from a different colony.

Not many ant species can Unite worker forces, certainly not Lasius niger, assuming you collected the queen during a nuptial flight you should just raise it to first workers (they are fully claustral requiring no food until they get first workers) If you try to add that worker to your queen either the worker will hurt the queen or the queen will hurt the worker and in the process possibly sustain injuries that could turn out to be life threatening down the road.
