I recently found out about this interesting and already successful kickstarter project. It appears to be a queenless colony of a very large species of termite. Hopefully the actual prices won't be the exceptionally high.  

 

 

These are a dampwood termite species in the genus Zootermopsis. Most likely Z. angusticollis based on his mention of them being from the Pacific Northwest.
