Safe to assume she’s fully claustral. They usually hibernate before laying eggs, so they can actually go incredibly long without food. I still give mine some drops of honey every few weeks before hibernating them. Good find!

Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.

Also try looking under rocks. There may be some queens with nanitics under some!

This actually gave me quite some luck today! The forest near my house is just overrun with these little half-yellow half-orange ants which I believe is a species of lasius. I flipped a rock and found a queen with four nanitics and lots of brood. I will get her identified and start a journal about her. Since my forest is just full of these guys brood boosting is not out of the question.

Guess what! Walked outside today and low and behold A beautiful crematogastor queen (lol. I think) walking along a path in front of me. I lost mine last year (she had wings and never made it... sadly).

So, time to start Again. Question: are crematogastor fully claustral?

Excited. A rare ant around here.

they grow really fast especially for ants in canada keep them heated and they will grow

Why would you say "for ants in Canada"? I am not located in Canada if you thought so from previous comments in this post. I live in Wisconsin
