Preventing Mites

Hello All

I recently lost a colony to mites,

I would like to know what causes mites, prevention and how to get rid of them.

Mites can hitch hike in on any insect you feed your colony. Even store bought feeder insects could potentially harbor mites if raised in crowded conditions. I would advise doing a quick freeze or boil of any insect you feed your ants to prevent mites.
