Lasius latipes flew in Medicine Hat yesterday

So excited
After 2 months of no rain and having seen alates 2 days ago I went to check late afternoon. Hit the literal gold mine.
They were flying
And obscuripes was battling at every nest I know of. Sad to see

But I got some queens.
One is black!!

And 3 Lasius niger which were everywhere

Myrmica was flying
Some teeny ones were flying.

Saw Pheidole nests earlier in the day with a fellow Canadian anter. It was awesome.

Similar to my experience on Sunday and Monday. Thousands upon thousands of Solenopsis molesta and Lasius cf. niger in the air. All I had to do was follow queens with males attached to the ground.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
