I'm gonna be starting this journal for all of my colonies to condense all the information.

Camponotus tortuganus: Caught June 21 2019, Workers: 5

 

Camponotus tortuganus: Caught  August 19 2019, Workers 0, brood : yes

 

Crematogaster pinicola : Received August 22 2019, Workers : 1

 

Crematogaster lineolata/cerasi: Caught July 3 2019 Workers: 8

 

Pheidole metallascens: Received August 22 2019, Workers : 0, brood : yes

Psuedomymex sp: Caught August 4 2019, Workers: 0 (Dead)

 

Psuedomyrmex gracilis : caught August 24 2019, Workers : 0, brood : no
 

Solenopsis Carolinensis : Receive August 22 2019, Queens 2, Workers : 0, brood : yes

 

Solenopsis pergandei: Received August 22 2019, Workers : 0, brood : yes

Here's a photo of my C. tortuganus. You can see how full their gasters are of the sugar water I just fed them.

A pupae that I brood boosted the C. floridanus 1 queen with has eclosed into a major but looks slightly deformed. The gaster looks smaller than it should be, maybe i squished it while transporting it. Anyone know if it will survive?

 

 

I don't know why my pictures are uploading upside down and it is the below the queen. If the picture was upright at least.

Looks like the psuedomyrmex was infertile and died today as well as the Camponotus floridanus worker I brood boosted, I must have squished the pupae when i was transporting it. On the bright side the Crematogaster now have 8 workers and the Brachymymex now have 3! Still waiting on eggs from my other C. floridanus de-alate. Also working on transferring the C. floridanus with brood and the Brachymymex to different test tube setups as they are both starting to mold.



Have them set up under a heat lamp for now.

How fast do Brachymyrmex grow?

I’m pretty new to this but I caught her on June 21 and her first worker enclosed on July 30 and today she has 3 workers. So their definitely not slow compared to some species.

I'm looking into getting the THA Atom nest that comes inside a foraging area for my brachymyrmex. Should I get the atom or atom B or should I get something completely different. I know their not ready to move out of the test tube yet, I would wait till the had more workers. I am also still thinking about doing a mediocre dirt setup in a glass peanut butter jar with some succulents.

Any opinions would help greatly.

Looks like the mold killed of my C. floridanus 1 faster than I could move her out of her test tube. Still have my other C. floridanus queen but no eggs yet. The Crematogaster lineolata now have 8 workers. Its crazy how fast these grow. Some darkening pupae for my C. tortuganus and Brachymymex patigonicus.

I would recommend the mini hearth, but you could also get the atom nest.

Is there a specific type (Type I, Type II, Type III) I should get or what additions I need. I'm just not quite sure what all the different options do. I'm also pretty tight on budget.

There is no type II for tarheelants. Type III is stronger than type I.

Yes, type I is Ytong and type III is some mixture of stuff they make at tarheelants.

C. tortuganus got their 6th worker today. This afternoon i'm gonna try feeding them some crested gecko food.

I took a break from posting but i'm back.

I now have another Camponotus floridanus founding colony, Another Camponotus tortuganus queen with brood, Crematogaster pinicola queen with 1 worker, Pheidole metallascens queen with brood, Dorymyrmex bureni queen with 2 workers, Solenopsis carolinensis 2 queens with brood, Solenopsis pergandei. and a psudomyrmex gracilis queen with no eggs yet.

I've decided to put some sand in with the obscurior and they've made a small claustral chamber!
