1. Location (on a map) of collection: Grand Junction, CO
2. Date of collection: 8-1-19
3. Habitat of collection: Grassy backyard next to a scrub oak field.
4. Length (from head to gaster): 10 mm on the dot.
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black head and thorax. Different shades of stripped brown/yellowish faster and legs, almost thought it was a small bee while it was flying through the air. Swatted it and as soon as it was on the ground, saw it was an ant.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Nothing to really note.
7. Distinguishing behavior: Didn't really observe much. Swatted it out of the air then picked it right up.
8. Nest description: None were seen.
9. Nuptial flight time and date: Don’t know, this was the only one I saw. Tried looking around the surrounding area for half an hour but never saw any others.
