Ants, scorpions, what else do you have in your house?

Babies are kind of cute.  How long does it take them from mating until the babies are big enough to leave?

I have lots of creatures, but Nepenthes probably has more.

From what I've read, I think about six months to a year. Mine mated exactly five months ago, so I guess they're at the fast end of the spectrum.

Yeah, I thought the same. Almost like larvae with legs.

What species of scorpion is this lady? Let me know when they get to to 2i, if you want to sell any.

I don't know what species they are. I've tried to figure it out, but they all look so similar to me; I think I'll have to post on a scorpion forum to get that answer.

Have you heard the term "eggs with legs"? It's commonly used for baby tarantulas during the egg to instar phase (I think that's what the stage is don't quote me).

Mericutia, "eggs with legs" = ewls in turantula speak. With these scorpions, they are simply just first instar. Instar is essentially how many times they have molted. I beleive once they molt into 2i they will leave mommas protection and venture out on their own.

Dpsdrew, definetally check out www.scorpion-forum.com. They can help you with the ID no probs their.

His larave with legs comment made me think of tarantulas. Always thought they were fascinating, not brave enough to keep them. xD

hey andrew i try doing research to find the kind of scorpian that we found, apperently little research is done in OC regarding scorpians.  Lets not forget that me and you have two different species.

Yeah, I think we do have different species, but so many of them are so hard to tell apart.

I just posted these over at the scorpion forum, so I guess I might as well post them here too. Looks like she's got 11 healthy babies. :)

I just gave these little guys their first meal. They fought over it a bit so I decided it was time to separate them. One thing I noticed about these is they are pretty reluctant to use their stingers, and supposedly that is a known fact about this species, but I do notice that the babies seem to use them a lot.

Here they are all separated into their own little containers now.

Here you can see the little burrows they started digging a day later.

Now I just need to find some people who want to buy or trade, because I certainly don't need this many.

Well, unfortunately all but two of these baby scorpions died. The two that are alive seem to be doing really good though. Both of the parents are dead now too.
