Seems like a good book for beginners, if your willing to spend the 10$. Much cheaper than the antscanada version, anyway.

I bought a copy. There’s nothing really you can’t learn from Crystals guide for beginners and general info on here. I wish someone would make a really detailed and professional book about the hobby, so people wouldn’t have to learn everything online, but maybe that’s a generational thing.
Very few people would buy that, and looking at all the different complications that vary between ant genera, and sometimes between species in a genera or subspecies in a species, I doubt anyone would bother making one. It's probably best to just memorize as much as you can.
You’re probably right. Newer generations learn mostly from Youtube and online sources. From my perspective, the online stuff is great, but it’s a mile wide and half an inch deep. For example, AntWiki and sites like that drive me nuts with how little info they contain about specific species. I’m more used to learning about birds and plants where there are whole libraries written about them. It’s just the way it is.
Antwiki is understandable. They try to cover too much in too little time.
