Anyone have experience with Aphaenogaster picea and the best food they like?  I assume fruit flies, but I had a bad experience with mites in my last batch.  Turned me off keeping them.

What about seeds?

Currently I'm feeding mealworm and cricket bits...

Almond are by far the best thing to feed them. I kept many different species of Aphaenogaster in the past and they all went crazy for them. Just crush them in to small bits with a hamer or something, and make sure they aren't salted or covered in other flavorings.

I accidentally froze all my ants

Walnuts work really well for harvester ants, so I wouldn't be surprised in Aphaenogaster liked them too

I've never tried Nuts, I will now though for sure, but Bot my Aphaenogasters  A. fulva and A. ?? like any type of insect I give them. I've done Fruit flies, green bottle and other flies, meal worms, crickets, beetles, wax worms, even bits of earth worm. They also like honey! Especially my A. fulva. :)
