It rained for most of the day but the sun came out later at around 6:00. I caught four of these queens. Two in single queen set ups and two being kept together.

Also, forgot to mention this, but the single queens are boosted with wild pupae.

Perhaps you should clarify that 'these queens' refers to Tetramorium, since the title no longer conveys that information.

"God made..... all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds (including ants). And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:25 NIV version

Keeping:

Tetramorium immigrans

Formica cf. pallidefulva, cf. incerta, cf. argentea

Formica cf. aserva, cf. subintegra

Pogonomyrmex occidentalis

Pheidole bicarinata

Myrmica sp.

Lasius neoniger, brevicornis

Oh, thank you so much I wouldn’t have caught that!

Oh no! Queen 2 had two workers die and she and her last worker are struggling! Can anyone explain this?

It is the same thing that happened to the Formica queen. Who by the way is still moving like how she did yesterday. The tetra workers are doing the same thing.

I was so happy to have a colony, and now that that has been taken away from me all I can do is hope that the rest of the queens do not suffer the same fate.

Also, do you have to use other parasites to found a L. speculiventris queen?

The Lasius cf. speculiventris queen just got the "disease" too.

The chances of this being a disease I think are pretty slim. Sounds more like poisoning or environmental conditions to me.

for a disease to spread and take effect that quickly just seems unreal.

Check your temps that they aren't too high and I'd clean and sterilize everything. Maybe put everything in new setups.

I don’t have any other set ups. I also already said what the temps are; 82-85

Could you have had anything on your hands or on your person when you caught the formica Queen? And maybe you somehow contaminated the tetramorium enclosure as well? Two days ago everything was fine no disease does that

Possibly, I have no idea. It’s possible that that is the test tube my Nylanderia (or Lasius) queen died in. Maybe that caused whatever happened to the Tetramorium queen.

Also make absolutely sure that any food source isn't contaminated. For instance did you feed both queens any of the same things.Make sure as well to use bottled or distilled water and not water from the tap.
Good luck I hope you get it figured out.

Thanks for helping. I will make sure to clean that test tube out and use different water.
I still have Queen 1 and 3 by the way.

The mini hearth came! Unfortunately without a syringe... I have syringes but no needle... Still kinda disappointing.
