Browsers require an encrypted connection with valid SSL certificate for http2, which is quite a performance boost, because with http1 the browser opens a new connection for every file it loads like javascript, css, images. With http2 the connection will stay open and it will be used for all the files.

 

I don't know why you are to anti SSL ;). Google also prefers websites with https in their search engine.
