What can be an alternative to yeast?
?
Yeast is easy to get.
Baking yeast is common in any baking section.
You can also just leave it out. I have done that before.
Almost any starchy food will work, it may just smell more.

So I'm thinking about using blended oats with honey and corn syrup, are these ok? Also how much corn syrup should I add if ok.
I just sterilized a big jug of oats in case there going to be mites.
Here is a website with a few recipes, one of which includes oats.

I use potato flakes as the base when I mix Drosophila media, so I cannot say how effective oats would be.
Just remember the fruit flies are what they eat, so do not give them stuff you do not want you ants eating.

I'm pretty sure this is in all in one diet for my idea.
Well I'm going to the store for more test tubes and feeders.
I thought yeast was 100% needed, or the cultures will crash sooner?

It is needed. However, small amounts of it are often present on the fruit flies themselves, so adding baker's yeast only speeds up the process.
Is it a good idea to take them out of their store bought breeding container?

You only need to transfer them to new containers when you are either building new cultures or feeding them to something.
I just thought of this but I have fish flakes and I was thinking of putting some fish flakes in with my mix for added protein to the fruit flies and maggots. Will this cause anything bad?
Maggots will have no problem with it.
But it will smell.

Not a problem with me. I don't mind the smell.
Is there anything I should be aware about, such as mites and how to prevent them. I already know that I have to add more cultures as they grow in which I would like to know an area where you can by some decent sized ones.
Usually mites you get in cultures are only there to eat the medium.

Parasite mites? How would you get rid of them?
How would you get rid of parasite mites, BTW it said I didn't comment so I'm commenting again.
