Bark lice. They'll all molt and have wings pretty soon.

I found a bunch of these little bugs on our Japanese Cherry Tree. They all range from either 2-5 mm, and they seemed pretty smart too. They were all in a cluster, then one would move away and the rest would follow and move the whole cluster to new location. I picked a few up, and they seem harmless. They have really long thin antennae identical to that of a cricket. I want to know what species this is, and if I can maybe raise/start a colony of them?









Also, do ants eat these? (Just wondering if I could start a feeder colony)

Those are aphids. They should eat them. If you put them in a terrarium with some plants (like the cherry tree) you can culture them pretty easily.

Really? These seem pretty large for aphids.

EDIT: I know this probably won’t work, but can I just feed them honey?

The feed on lichen that grows on tree bark.

Well, I put them in an outworld and gave them some lichen as well as a wet cotton ball next to the lichen. They seem to like it. I really want to try to raise them because they seem pretty neat, and also they’re adorable when they just waddle around. :lol:
