Hey everyone, been a lurker here for a little while and finally starting to make the push to actually collect and keep some ants finally. I've been watching AntsCanada for years and feel I'm in a good position to build my own worlds.

I've become pretty hell bent on finding me some 'Big-Headed' Pheidole's so if anyone has found any in Oregon, I'd love to know where.

Anyways, thanks for having this forum to begin with. I have much to learn and hope to eventually be able to contribute just as much.

Welcome! Pheidole fly on warm humid nights in the summer. Just last night I found 2 Pheidole cf. bicarinata queens and 1 Pheidole cf. tysoni queen. Once the first workers arrive, they grow extremely quickly.

Welcome!  And what Antdude said about Pheidole.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
