Manitobant's brachymyrmex depilis journal

Yesterday I had the delight of coming across a rare ant species in manitoba, that being brachymyrmex depilis. I found the colony after they were brutally raided by a nearby formica nest as there were dead workers and queens everywhere. Because of this and their rarity, I decided to do some digging to try and save the remaining workers and queens and I ended up finding one injured but alive queen as well as some workers. Luckily she is doing much better now and I hope to keep her alive and well as well as get more of the colony in the future!

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
