I want to put my colony in a tubs and tubes setup but at the moment I cannot buy fluon what at home materials can I use to make a barrier

Pretty sure that baby powder mixed with rubbing alcohol should work.

Olive oil. Don’t know if that is enough for tetras though.

In my experience, olive oil works temporarily but is generally a messy and unsafe way to contain ants. Tetramorium are terrible climbers, so any barrier would most likely work.

Yeah, I second this. They’re really not that hard to contain. If you feed them a lot, they hardly even try to escape. Fluon is worth it if you can get.
