Today i collected several Tetramorium Immigrans queens in my backyard. i didn't really expect it and i'm normally not awake early enough to catch early morning nuputial flights but today i was. i was sitting outside when one landed on me and then i ran inside grabbed some test tubes and started collecting. i have 4 queens alone in testtube setups and I'm also going to see what happens if i put three together. i know they are not polygynous but its worth a shot. ill try and update this every 1-2 weeks.

I've always wanted this species, and was lucky to find a few nests at a local park. How big would you say the queens are?

Ants are Pets, not Pests.

-Camponotus sansabeanus

-Camponotus US-CA02

-Camponotus vicinus

-Formica podzolica

-Monomorium spp.

-Pogonomyrmex californicus

-Solenopsis spp.

my queens are less than a cm, maybe 7-8mm? You could look it up on an ant wiki and it will give you the sizes of the workers and queens.

Little update:
I caught one extra queen and put her with the already 3 queen founding chamber. I’ve also started heating them and I put them away. My plan is to not check on them tell the 16th of June. This gives them two weeks to lay eggs and get larva going and also gives me time to see which are fertile and which aren’t. I may also add my temnothorax and Myrmica and camponotus to this journal if you guys want. Let me know if you do! :)

I know, I was replying to Antcatcherrpo3 as they said they thought Tetramorium are not polygynous, but yes, CrazyCow's are not the polygynous species. I should have just said that some Tetramorium species are polygynous, but T. immigrans are not. I will fix that.

They aren’t polygynous but they will found together, at least that’s what I’ve heard. Even if they kill eachother I have plenty more and do far they are doing fine together so hopefully all goes well

okay so i checked up on my T. immigrans queens and 1 died and 1 has not layed yet and has not dropped her wings :( so she may be infertile. on the other hand tho one of the other queens has started to lay and she has a small batch of eggs atm. and now for the 4 queen experiment colony... they are doing great!! huge pile of eggs and they seem to be very happy together! I'm very exited to see how this colony dose when workers arrive.

this is a pic of the queens on top of the eggs tending to them.

this is the egg pile and that's only part of it! a lot more is on the cotton and under the queens.

more updates soon!

Eventually the queens would probably have been culled until there is one. I highly doubt the colony would stay polygynous.
