I’ve caught two Pogonomyrmex badius queens last week and since than they’ve been tearing at the cotton. I’ve changed the volume of water in the test tubes I’ve read somewhere harvester ants don’t tolerate too much water, what seems to slow them down on tearing is replicating the Florida heat. I’ve moved the queens from my reptile heating cord to my garage it’s always hot but it’s not solving the main issue just delaying it. Any solutions?

They're pulling at the cotton because in the wild, Pogonomyrmex dig a lot. The best solution is to move her to a dirt setup or put some sand in her setup and let her settle in.

Yeah I’ve done that. I even went back to the park I caught them and took the sand they’re familiar with (boiled the sand of course) and replaced the sand I originally had them in.
