Yea, pics aren't working. I have to use a different method. I can see them on my laptop though. So that's weird.

Camponotus nearcticus (Colony #1)
7-18-19

She got her first worker today! She is about 4 millimeters long. They still have two pupae and some larvae and eggs.

Crematogaster cerasi (Colony #2)
7-18-19

An acorn fell from one of my pinoaks onto my driveway right in front of me, and being the curious me, I picked it up and there was a small founding colony of Crematogaster cerasi. One queen and ten so workers with lots of brood.

Ok, this new Crematogaster colony is not cerasi, because this queen is half the size of my cerasi queen. I have (very crudely) identified this new colony as Crematogaster ashmeadi.

Btw the cerasi are doing great! Lots of new eggs, lots of larvae and a bunch of pupae!

Oh, forgot to add: I'm going to try to combine a colony of Monomorium minimum with 7 queens with my current colony. We'll see how well this goes!

How are you literally having ant colonies fall out of the sky

Camponotus nearcticus (Colony #1)
7-22-19

Two workers now.

Camponotus subbarbatus (Colony #2) (High yellow + orange variant, formerly IDed as Camponotus snellingi)
7-22-19

Nine workers and lots more brood.

This new Crematogaster colony is super cute. They are smaller than ashmeadi, so I don't know what these tiny, arboreal Crematogaster are.

Crematogaster sp. 2 (Colony #1)
7-22-19

They have lots of pupae still and three or four workers.

Pheidole bicarinata (Colony #2)
7-27-19

Their first workers are a few days away! Their pupae are orange right now.

Pheidole sp. 1 (Colony #1)
7-27-19

She has some large larvae and some pupae now.

Camponotus americanus (Colony #1)
7-27-19

This queen has had her first biological workers eclose! I have her some pupae and 2 workers from a wild colony a while back, and she now has 10 workers with lots of her own on the way! I am giving them an outworld soon.

Camponotus chromaiodes (Colony #3)
7-27-19

This queen has 17 workers now with two being medians! They have no more pupae or larvae, but have over 20 eggs!

Camponotus pennslyvanicus (Colony #1)
7-27-19

This queen has 50 workers with 5 or so being majors and about 70 brood in all stages.

Camponotus nearcticus (Colony #1)
7-27-19

This queen has 3 workers, 3 pupae and some eggs and 1 larva.

Camponotus subbarbatus (Colony #2)
7-27-19

This is the rare, light queen and she has 13 workers, 3 pupae, some eggs and 20 or so larvae, one of which is a major larva.

Monomorium minimum (Colony #1)
7-27-19

They have a little over 600 workers now, with more than double that in brood. It got too hard to feed them in their tube, so they have a small outworld now.

Pheidole bicarinata (Colony #2)

They got their first worker today! So small. I hope all four queens stay alive. I think they are truly polygynous, so hopefully they get to be a big colony!

Finally an update on these guys! I
Freya is still productive as ever, with a new batch of around 100 eggs. They have WAAAAAY too many larvae. I'm estimating 200-250. They have just about out grown their fortress, with a little under 500 workers now. Most of their brood seems to be minors and small majors this time. I
LONG LIVE FREYA!

Did you ever get a pic of these ants in their Fortress? I'd love to see a fortress with a fairly large colony in it. I want to possibly invest in a couple Fortresses to upgrade from Mini hearths

Your Pheidole seem to be like two days ahead of mine. Mine have orange pupa, so they will hatch very soon, as they have orange workers. Congrats on the worker!

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
