Wow. I'm not sure how I've managed to do that. Could have sworn I posted in my own, any way to delete it?

Well, his accidental post was 110% better than most journals on here with one sentence updates and Imagur links people can’t see anyways.

Wait, what's wrong with long update sentences? They do give a lot of detail...

No, I mean short sentence brood counts that aren’t interesting at all. Ferox is not guilty of this.

Just wondering, are any of you on the antkeeping discord? I always wonder since I use both.

Aphaenogaster tennesseensis (Colony #1)
3-1-20

They got their first parasite worker today!!! The queen has laid a new batch of eggs, and there are still a few medium and large larvae.

Good find and good luck! Formica parasites aren’t all that common here.

I like that method: it is very efficient, and gets the point across. :D

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

In all the excitment, it would seem as though I have misidentified the new Formica colony. I put them through a key, and it looks like they're F. integra. Even better!

Parasitic formica seems pretty cool, closest I've seen was a small colony of polyergus with three workers and four hosts.
