Here's a pic of the Pogonomyrmex. Now at 5 workers, 10 eggs, 1 pupa and 3 larvae.
Solenopsis invicta:
Camponotus nearcticus (black):
They have 32 workers, including 2 majors and enough brood to bring them to 50 workers. New eggs have been laid, as you can see, and I'm not sure if I'm hibernating these this year.

Here's the red and black Camponotus nearcticus:
At 3 workers and 4 eggs. Hibernation situation same as black nearcticus.

There is a important time for everything, important place for everyone, an important person for everybody, and an important ant for each and every ant keeper and myrmecologist alike
Yeah they are! I just fed them sugar water and a mealworm.
Here's the Camponotus subbarbatus:
A rare, light variant. At 18 workers and 20 brood, mostly eggs and pupae. Same hibernation situation as the nearcticus.

I love Camponotous subbarbatus, they are really beautiful and grow slightly faster than camponotous Pennsylvanicus! Really cool species!Yeah they are! I just fed them sugar water and a mealworm.

This a pic of the black Camponotus nearcticus colony from August. They've grown a ton! Never boosted them, and I am proud of how well my first successful nearcticus queen has done:

C. subbarbatus are amazing. They are even polygynous! Most myrmentoma subgenus Camponotus are actually. So even Camponotus nearcticus. Next year, when flights start, I plan on putting 3 together.

I WILL find Pheidole next year. Here’s the plan: in June hook up a battery powered black light in the woods and sit out there with my buddies and a case of cold ones.
