Great job! I've only ever found one queen at a light, and she was infertile and ended up flying away and getting loose in my room.

Congrats, brother! You're having a heck of a first anting season. Can you try imbedding your photos using the gallery?
Those are Camponotus castaeneus. One of the few dirt-nesting Camponotus, and the only one in that part of the country.
Nice catch!

I tried that too it kept telling me I couldn't load that type of file. ??? I think part of the problem too is the IMGUR App which I hate!
Holy wow, that’s amazing!
Thanks!

Yes they are! One of my favorites. I find them mostly in dirt but I've found them in logs a couple times. I have a small colony. I have found one area where almost every rock I move there are C. castaneus under it!
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????????!!!!!!!!
Cause I was bored with nothing to do and decided to try and catch ants.
Still gotta hope that they are fertile but I have them all setup in Test tubes now! (I was low on Test tubes and cotton balls last night. )

You can imbed photos by making a gallery on here and uploading them. Then when you make a post click on my media and find the gallery images you want. It's a few extra steps, but it makes it easier for people to see your photos especially on phones. Imgur is blocked on my work computer, too, so I can't see any of the links people post.
Your bound to have at least one mated queen in there, probably more.

Haha, I just saw a male flight of castaneus today! I'm sure the females will fly tomorrow!

that's how it was here. The first night there were males all over and I was mad cause I couldn't find even 1 Queen. I almost didn't go back but got bored and found them. Didn't know that's how things worked.

Have you done this from your phone? I don't see "My Media" " the emoticons" or any of the other thing like it is at the top of the computer.
I can make a gallery and upload but there's no tool for me to imbed them.

in Dayton Ohio the couple keepers out there have been seeing castaneus males but no queens (castaneus are like borderline impossible to find this is one of the first flights we have seen ever cuz we organized the state and we are tracking everything)

Well the males came out at least 1 night before the Queens. First day I saw 200+ males, next day the males were still around (or maybe they were new) but it took me almost 2 hours to get 5 Queens. The area is 2 double Tennis Courts with lights.
No, I only upload photos on my work lap top instead of actually doing my job.
Yeah Guilty here as well.
