This is a colony I found in a log. I collected the queen and maybe 100 workers and 20 pupae. Now, they are in a nest I made last year, and they managed to get into the sponge chamber and nest in it... Now the queen and over 200 workers are in the sponge and I can't do anything about it.

I got the ants out of the sponge, and they are doing wonderfully! They have a little over 200 workers and lots of eggs and small larvae.

I took them out of the nest because they did not fit it well after a sudden die off of about 50 workers. My Camponotus chromaides colony fit it better, so I moved them in it instead.

Got a new colony with about 50 workers and a bunch of alate larvae and pupae. I was looking for another colony with alate brood, and found A. cf. carolinensis colony with alate brood and worker pupae, so took the brood and some workers, and gave them to my colony and they took the brood, and killed the workers. Once the alates hatch, I will get some wild alates and try to breed them, and sell the mated queens. This should work because Aphaenogaster mate on the ground.
