I'm jealous, and no predatory ants for me.

I've also never ever seen a single worker.

Strumigenys are actually fairly common, they're just highly cryptic and difficult to find. I found my S. membranifera queens by sifting at the base of trees in my backyard. I've found both S. louisianae and S. membranifera in my yard. In fact, those are the only two species I've ever seen. In California, you have a very small number of species, only three, S. californicaS. reliquia, and S. membranifera, which is an introduced species. Good luck in finding them. If you ever need any tips in finding them, let me know, cause I've got tips for days.

Sifting literally just means sitting down and looking through leaf litter and dirt. Or you can use a filter.

Do you have a PPQ 526 permit? I'd love to get my hands on those species!

Haha, sadly I do not for those 2 species, but I could give you some REALLY good pointers on finding both of them in your area.

That'd be great! FYI, If you already have a PPQ 526 permit, it's pretty easy to fill out forms for other species.
