I’ve had quite a day!!!

The last great thing was when feeding my vicinus colony
(that I extracted last fall from a log and whose queen died at some point- yet new eggs are being laid!)
I spotted 2 alates!!! Wow

I found another log with vicinus as well 6 wk ago. They are in a huge plastic container with log and all - the alates all emerged yesterday and I let them out 5 or 6 times.

Eggs from your first colony with the alates are probably drones. Eggs are being laid by an un mated female.

Camponotus chromaiodes

Camponotus castaneus
