You make me wish I lived in Texas... I only have Trachymyrmex... And they are super rare.
I got Trachymyrmex and Cyphomyrmex. I see Cyphomyrmex pretty frequently, and their flights will be starting up soon! I've only ever seen Trachymyrmex on Hilton Head Island.

Unfortunately, they're not. They are not native to South Carolina either, but they are an introduced species.

Nice, Yen Saw is back!!! Where did you collect them? I currently live in Dallas Texas, but sometimes visit Austin TX around this time, but I've never seen them here!

Glad to see many interest with Atta texana. I was able to collect some in Sugar Land (south of Houston) but sadly the recent storm has flooded the area. The queens on another set up are putting all the fungus pellets and working together. Good sight.

I think he means he bought it. He says he has a PPQ 526 permit, but you need a separate permit for each species as far as I am aware. I'll have to read his topic about the permit to see if I believe him or not, as I just skimmed over it before.

Yea they do look more like a large bee from a distance.
Amazing queens. These photos take me back to my childhood in Honduras when I used to see Atta queens everywhere after the first rains in May. I knew nothing about ants back then.
this is great. I wish I knew about these when I lived in texas. While I was born there I only lived there until I was 7 or 8 and then would only go back in the summers some times through out my teens...
Looking forward to hearing about your progress with these gals.
I will put a thread on the ant journal for the Atta to capture the progress with everyone.
