Hello everyone,  just found this queen today. I would be really thankful if some of the experts here could help me ID her. 

 

- Found on tennis courts with small wooded area nearby. Surrey, British Columbia, Canada

 

- Collected on Sep. 02, 2018 at approximately 7:30 pm, 23 degree Celsius

- Length - around 9/10 mm

 

- dark brownish/black head and gaster, lighter brownish red thorax; shiny gaster, seems hairless

 

​- I didn't notice any nuptial flights occurring, but I didn't have too much time to look around so I might have missed it.

 

​Sorry about the poor picture quality, hope it will be enough since she's acting pretty stressed out, running around and not sitting still.

Formica pacifica. If she doesn't lay eggs right now its not because she's infertile don't worry its because she needs to hibernate. I'm not completely sure whether all Formica pacifica follow this rule (depending on region) but at least where I live they hibernate before laying eggs.

Mine laid and got workers before hibernation. They fly where I used to live around May-September.
