I was very lucky to have caught this Oecophylla smaragdina queen when she crawled onto the pavement from the grass.

 

Here is she as an alate.

She dropped her wings the next day.

And laid a nice clutch of eggs.

Wow, you're lucky to have them in your area. I see a lot of colonies at my school just a few kilometers from my house, but none around my house... Good luck!

They're way too high up in the trees to catch a colony... I still haven't seen any alate.

She has been laying eggs but I don't see larvae. I'm not quite sure what's the issue but she has been eating brood.
