1. Location (on a map) Huntington Beach, California
2. Date of collection: 4.22.2019
3. Habitat of collection: backyard/aquaponic system
4. Length (from head to gaster): about 2 to 3mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black, smooth texture.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: still had her wings until I put her in test tube then the day after she took them off and laid one egg.
7. Distinguishing behavior: Seems to lay one egg every day.
8. Nest description: Test tube.
9. Nuptial flight time and date: I was talking to someone standing near my aquaponic system. She just flew in and landed on some of the plants are growing in water. This was about 3 or 4 PM on the date above.

Thank you and i’m looking forward to hearing about this ant and what I need to do to help her thrive🐜

This is her the day I caught her. She is small so it’s hard to get a good photo.

From the description, I'd say Tapinoma sessile.

We'll need pics for an ID. Also, 2-3mm! That's a tiny queen!

I'm thinking either Brachymyrmex or Nylanderia. I can't get a good enough look in any of the pictures to tell which, but maybe someone else can.

This is a picture I found online of the "Nylanderia" and the abdomen looks like my ant.

The only Nylanderia I commonly see around here have a redish thorax, so I'm going to go with Brachymyrmex. That's definitely their size.
