Are their flight time of dates and time of days the same as acromyrmex versicolor?

Also, so you know of Myrmecocsystus there? I'm trying to gather info since its gonna rain there

Maybe, but needs at least like a half inch for them to fly, don't know if that covers enough area.

I would suggest getting windy.app and ventusky, they are pretty reliable apparently.

So I found a spot with Camponotus and most likely other species too, but I still need to look around. The Camponotus there identified as nr Camponotus semitestaceus. When will these guys fly? And what are the conditions needed for a nuptial flight to happen? Also are they night flyers if so what time of night? I'm pretty sure I missed out on Camponotus already but I want to know for next time.

It’s looking promising!! Fingers crossed because we need it…

I followed some rain out to Hemet this past weekend and saw some beautiful colonies but nothing flying.

Does anyone think acromyrmex will fly on Sunday morning? It said that it is supposed to rain a lot through the night and one of my apps says that the rain will end around 6 which is when they fly. But another one says that it will drizzle all morning. Do you guys think they wait until Tuesday when there is no rain or will they fly on Sunday if there is a break in the rain?

I stopped outside of Descanso yesterday and caught a few Pogonomyrmex californicus queens after some rain.

Tuesday is going to be insane!

Has anyone seen or caught any honeypots yet? I didn’t get a chance to check out my usual spots here in Vegas about 2 weeks ago. I’m hoping they didn’t fly yet and this Hilary brings them out. I haven’t seen any Pogonomyrmex in my area fly yet either.

Was gonna go on Monday right after the rain ended at around 6 in the morning but I forgot that it was a hurricane and it looks like it is going to blow hard around 25mph all morning. It seems like Tuesday might now be the best.

Yeah I'm thinking Tues maybe even Weds for me. Not sure how it affects things but this rain (unlike "real" monsoons) is bringing a drop in temperature by about 20*F, and also suppose to drop 3-6" so far in it's track (although that can easily change) but it seems like 3-6" is tons more than a typical monsoon flash storm that drops maybe 1-2" (max)? On Tues/Weds, temp looks like it shoots back into the mid-high 80*F vs. the mid 70*F during the rain dumps.

I know around here in Vegas, if more than an 1" gets dumped, it will usually flood. I can't imagine what 3-6" would do. I believe we are preparing our underground community of homeless and getting them out here in my city.

Yes, might be better to wait a bit since the off-road areas will be dicey and there will also be road closures. Will need the high temps for flights as well.

Do you think they will fly on Wednesday? Will the flooding be over by then
