Ruby Mountain looks promising!!!

I’m down in San Diego as well and we have plenty of spots. Depends on what you’re looking for of course.

Right now the only place down here with real rain is El Centro. There are slight showers across other places as well…

This past Saturday I was near Lakeside and found two Pogonomyrmex sp. queens digging founding chambers and there had been NO rain in that area. The desert is different, of course, but I try to get outside and look even when I might think I won’t be finding anything.

Rained slightly in the past days, but today got some Flooding rains. I'm in LV.

I'm estimating the P. Rugosus will fly probably tomorrow morning as it's still some chance of rain this morning here in a few hours.

My spot for Mexicanus had flooded streets, I'm estimating they might fly shortly after the sun goes down tonight, and I can hit them early morning the next day.

*fingers crossed* I haven't went queen hunting for two years, so gots to knock off some rust.

Was anyone able to make it to the Ruby mountain area this morning? I'm sure there were some Acromyrmex versicolor flights

I'm planning to go Thursday for kicks since that's the only day I can spare. Looking for Pogonomyrmex and honeypots, might hit up Joshua Tree, so we'll see what I find. It'll be a nice day out regardless.

What source are you using? I don't see it on mine, next week would be perfect for me.

I don’t use a specific site or app. Everything I look at says something different so I use the regular weather app, clime, national weather service and I also look at some of the results that pop up when you search for Joshua tree weather. This time when I looked, some of the sources said there was chance for rain at the end of next week, while others said nothing.

As you can see the Solenopsis xyloni are LOADED with alates…

I have quiet a few in test tubes, with brood, from this summer.

That's really surprising those haven't flown yet.

It was a really beautiful sighting. I’ve been feeding this colony so that it doesn’t fall victim to the pyramid ants we have as well.

They flew almost every week in July here. They will likely fly for a couple more weeks.

Yeah, I know they fly pretty much every time we have a heatwave, but I didn't know they had a major flight like that multiple times.

Cyphomyrmex wheeleri, if you could consider them leaf cutters rather than just gatherers.
