Going to Whitney Canyon Park tonight. I know a few others are going but just to let you guys know and I’d like to see who else is going.

I might go. I’m guessing Camponotus will be flying if anything

They won't come out unless it's cool and dark, you won't find anything until then

It looks to be pretty warm in the Santa Ana mountains on Monday/in a few days. Opinions on ants flying?

Most of that mountain range, if not all, has gotten heat and flown weeks ago. Lot of Camponotus there flew already.

Would you know where people are catching them? I heard Los Anteles got 50 C. Sansabeanus at Griffith park.

Where would I ask Soot's, and have you caught any Camponotus this year?

I caught a C. clarithorax (technically, my father did) yesterday afternoon in San Dimas. This last Saturday evening my black light attracted a half dozen Camponotus males (no idea the species) at Silverwood Lake.

Hopefully, someone near you will take you under their wing to show you a location or two to get a good idea what/where to look.

Happy Hunting!
