Today I had some of the best luck and caught a 6 queen tapinoma melanocephalum colony in a greenhouse. It may not seem like much to any antkeeper in the tropics, but exotics like these are the jackpot for antkeepers who live in cold places like Canada. I'm hearing that these things grow pretty fast so I'm expecting them to grow out of their mini hearth pretty quickly.

the crazy thing is that these tropical pests are actually some of the most sought after ants in canada, as exotics are hard to get because you can't bring them in so we have to resort to finding them in greenhouses.

Kinda, but it's not as rare as you can ship ants to other provinces and those guys are commonly found by suppliers in Ontario.

Crematogaster queens are kind of hard to find in North America.

Yeah, I just meant to say that they aren’t some sort of pest ant like the invasive ones that truly abound.
