Formicarium Humidity

What sort of signs would you look for when figuring out a species liking of humidity levels within a formicarium??

New to the hobby and looking for insight into humidity levels needed.

The best way is not to force ants into a new nest, let them move into it. So you could moist the new nest and wait if they move in. If they only move in after it dried out a little bit, you'll know they don't like that much moisture. If they already have moved into the new nest it can be a sign that there is something wrong with humidity/temperature if they move into the tube or back into the test tube.

I only care about humidity in the nest, at least the ants I kept so far could tolerate a quite dry outworld.
