Hey all!
This month i was able to catch three queens! (i don't have the specific dates for any of them).
All the queens were caught in the Bega Valley, NSW, Australia.
queen#1
Size: 15mm
Location of capture: Domestic area surrounded by forest
Notes: I am quite sure this is a species of camponotus. Not sure which though...
Queen#2
Size: 8mm
Location of capture: Domestic area surrounded by forest
Notes: I am speculating that this queen may be an Argentine ant (Linepithema humile), however i am not sure.
Queen#3
Size: 8mm
Location of capture: farmland with forest bordering
Notes: This specimen i believe to be a polyrachis. I had a polyrachis femorata queen which died which looked very similar, the only differences being the lack of brown legs (Black for this queen) and that this queen has a significantly shinier gaster. (which didn't really come up in the photo).
Thanks in advance guys!
