A little scientific article I found. It goes over the lifespans of queens in both monogyne and polygyne colonies of ants and termites. 54 species of ant and nine species of termite are mentioned. Interestingly (If not unsurprisingly), polygynous species had a much lower average lifespan than those of monogynous ones.
