I just got 2 queens from Nurbs. I will make the journal of this species for him.
So far i notice this ants are chill as hell. Nothing bothers them or spook them. Ill explain why after this pic.

So you can see the big drop. I miss calculated. The other queen drank the whole drop.

Her booty got stuck on a small drop left. Why I say they are chill. I push the cotton all the way to her [censored]. It absorbed the drop. She was like cool. And started cleaning her self.
In my experience all queens would have run, cry if i touch them booty with a dry cotton.

I will report once they have eggs. A week or so I hope.

Best of luck with them! WestLA has some too as well as KBAnt. YS and RS will have some shortly too. You guys can all make journals so I won't have to. Will be fun to see how everyone does and learn from each other.

Nice. They are worth a movie. 1 queen ate her 3 egg. Or hid it. Cause right now I just checked on them. they all have 5 to 6 eggs. I even saw one With red nectar on its center. Could it be a larva? Not sure. It could also be the one she ate. Ant spit some of the nectat on it. I won't tale pics until first worker arrives.

I have been keeping them in my room. Temp goes as follow.

8am 70 degrees. By 12 its at 80 degree.
The hottest it gets its 85 to 86. Then by 9pm its down to 70 degrees. I'm sure 3 to 4 in the morning is even colder. Do not keep above 85. I think the queen ate them cause I put a heat cable where the cotton plug is. I notice her she was next to the water contton. Far away from the cable. By the time I moved her she had eaten 2 eggs already. The other queen i kept with out the cable to see the reaction. Leasson learn.

Her booty got stuck on a small drop left. Why I say they are chill. I push the cotton all the way to her ass. It absorbed the drop. She was like cool. And started cleaning her self.
In my experience all queens would have run, cry if i touch them booty with a dry cotton.

I will report once they have eggs. A week or so I hope.

Once they're done completely destroying their cotton plugs for the first day, they really calm down a lot.

BTW, booty is not censored.

Its been almost 2 weeks. And no larva yet. These might take a lot of time from egg to worker. Maybe 3 to 4 months. Here are some pics.

The good mom.

Not so good mom.

I have taken the heater of them. The room i have them reaches 80 to 84 degrews perfect for them. At night it drops ro 75 70.

Yeah, don't make the mistake of baking them. Theses aren't desert ants. Mine are in the low 80s.

There are some larva now. The other queen only has eggs. It took a bit more than 2 weeks from egg to larva. I expect 2 months from egg to worker for minors. And 3 or more for super majors.

Mine already have some medium larvae, and no joke, they came after all of you guys got yours.

To address this, nurbs, I keep mine at 86-90 degrees Fahrenheit, and they do fine. They are not desert ants, but all of mine have medium or small larvae by being kept at that temperature.
