What are your plans for hibernation? I have a vicinus colony from the Julian area and I'm trying to figure out if they need to hibernate.

I put mine in the fridge where it is around 32-34 degrees. People tell me that's too low but I have never had a death when hibernating except for my non hibernating species that I accidentally killed. If you have a wine cooler that would work well too. Just put them in early December and take them out the first week of March.

Update 3-30-21

I found 2 of these queens on the 28th at Whitney Canyon Park. As for my other colonies I have 2 left. The others I either sold or they died. My best colony has 9 workers with new eggs and a larvae. The other colony lost all its workers in hibernation and is just a single queen. I'm probably going to give it away for free since I have no intentions of keeping it anymore.

Update 5-16-21

Both queens I found are doing very well. Both have at least pupae each and a few larvae.

Update 6-13-21

Both queens are doing great. The best queen already has 6 workers while the other has 4. So far a good start :)
