What’re the easiest ways to differentiate these queens?

Is there a key to use? Or is that only for workers?

Thanks for any help!

All black thorax is sansabeanus? And mixed color thorax is vicinus? Is that correct?

Correct. Also the width of the head on the salas are wider, whereas vicinus is thinner.

Thanks! OK, I think I got it. Just to be sure, these are some of the ones I'm on the fence about because their thorax isn't technically "all black" but seem like they're more similar to the ones with fully a black thorax (sansabeanus) than the ones that look like vicinus. So I think these are sansabeanus... Would that be correct?

Yeah, it's very distinct on a Vicinus. Also just check the head width. If it's just as wide or wider than the thorax, it's a Salsa. Head on a vicinus are thinner and pointer near the mouth.

EDIT: If you're still not sure, once you get workers you will 100% be sure. Vicinus workers are dark red. Salsas workers are yellow to orange.
