I know this is a Crematogaster sp, but Antmaps.org list 2 possibilities and I don't know the differences. She is either C.lineolata or C.cerasi. Unless that website doesn't have a full list. I caught the queen about a year and a half ago, and figure I would finally post an ID request with some photographs of a dead worker.

1. Location (on a map) of collection: Ulster county NY
2. Date of collection: 15/09/17
3. Habitat of collection: Queen walking across a dirt path in a oak/pine mix forest
4. Length (from head to gaster): Worker length 3mm (photo included)
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black/dark brown
6. Distinguishing characteristics:  heart shaped gaster, and hard to squish.
7. Distinguishing behavior: Any time they are disturbed they shake their gasters around.
8. Nest description: Not observed

9. Nuptial flight time and date: Queen caught mid afternoon 15/09/17, No wings and 2 other queens found within a few meters.

I want to say Crematogaster lineolata because Crematogaster cerasi have upward curving spines.

Good luck with this one.

Is there more information I can get/give to make it easier or is it just super hard to tell the difference?
