New ant keeper trying to get started here. Queens were found mostly on wild flowers, one running on the ground, and I dug up one.

1. Location (on a map) of collection: borrego springs

2. Date of collection: 3/5/2019
3. Habitat of collection: Desert, some low shrubs
4. Length (from head to gaster): 10-11 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black
6. Distinguishing characteristics:
7. Distinguishing behavior:
8. Nest description:  4 to 6 cm nests; see pictures.

9. Nuptial flight time and date: Guessing recent (some living and dead winged males also found scattered on nearby wild flowers).  Recent rain followed by increased temp (80s)
