So, I'm not exactly new but I saw they had introductions a while ago and just now had the time to do so. My name is Haden, I'm from Fairfax County, Northern Virginia. (For those who have no idea where that is it's 15 minutes from DC) Anyway, I'm a high schooler with the mentality of a 40 year old, so I'm told. I am obsessed with reptiles, amphibians, and of course ants. I have a couple of colonies. My favorite being Stigmatomma pallipes and knowing that they are hard to keep due to their diet, humidity specifications, and almost literally impossibility of getting a colony from founding stage. I also am conducting a few experiments with Solenopsis invicta in DC. Though not common, they do exist. Take from me, as I have a queen in founding right now. I can include photo ID's in a journal later as RIFA in DC isn't known publicly. Also, I would LOVE to get to know some other anters in my area so we can discuss the native species here.

Bro! I live in Alexandria! I teach in Fairfax as well. Glad to find out about other ant fans in NOVA. You’re freaking me out about RIFA, though! Every time it gets super cold, I’m thankful that it stops the spread of noxious ants like that. I guess I underestimate their cold hardiness. Yikes.

Luckily, I believe the queen I found is infertile but it's still quite scary to know they are still here.
