I have a couple Myrmica queens that I caught earlier this month. I'm guessing that they wait until after hibernation to begin laying, is that correct?
Also, if they are polygyne queens will they get along during the founding process together, or will they need to be kept separate until the first workers arrive?

I find it really depends on the species and location for Myrmica. If you caught the queens this late in the season, the queens could of been foraging, in which case they may have already been raising brood at their nests, although it is more likely they just had a nuptial flight. In both cases I would presume that the queens would lay eggs after hibernation. Remember, Myrmica are semi claustral so you will need to feed them.
As for polygyny, most Myrmica species will indeed form colonies together but later kill each other until only one queen remains. I find it is best to separate the queens once workers are near as then the chances of you losing queens are slimmer. That being said, go for it! In many cases Myrmica will indeed for colonies with multiple queens without fighting. Also, you can always merge the colonies later, which usually tends to work with Myrmica. It really depends on the species and region so you might have to do a little trial and error to find out what works and what doesn't work for you and the species your dealing with.
